DRUMMING LESSONS & HANDGAMES PRACTICE - YOUTH AGES 8-12
Tłı̨chǫ Youth are invited to explore the traditions of handgames and drumming, and discover their deep connection to Tłı̨chǫ culture through practice, rhythm, and play.
Time: 5:00-9:00p.m.
When: Every Thursday - April 17 to May 8

Focusing on established rules and customs that have been passed down from generation to generation.
Learning the correct performance for prayer songs, taking part in community drum dances, feeding of the fire, and traditionally managing the drums during handgames and drumming performances and, to share stories.
To keep the DRUMBEAT going and COMMUNITY dancing and RESPECT for one another.
Guided by an elder, alongside a lead drummer and a handgame player.
A Nonviolent Crisis Intervention workshop equips participants with skills to safely prevent and de-escalate challenging behaviour, focusing on respectful, non-harmful strategies that prioritise the safety and dignity of everyone involved.
When: May 14-15, 2025 (MUST commit to 2 full days)

The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) invites residents to provide feedback and attend information sessions on the replacement of the Dehk’è Frank Channel bridge, located at km 243.8 on Highway 3. Replacement of the bridge is required to meet traffic demands and eliminate the restrictions for over-dimensional loads.
Residents are encouraged to attend the information sessions to receive update on the Dehk’è Frank Channel Bridge Replacement and how resident input (received in February) has been addressed.

OUTLINE OF THE POSITION:
The Social/Wellness Program Coordinator provides coordination of community wellness / social programs, topics including but not limited to self-esteem, tobacco risk awareness, addictions awareness, children and youth, elders, parenting, healing, wellness and cultural programs. The coordinator provides support for a range of projects that expand community knowledge and promote community unity and work closely within the Tłı̨chǫ Community Services Agency (TCSA), Tłı̨chǫ Community Governments, the GNWT and Government of Canada to achieve objectives and strategies for Community Wellness.
The incumbent will consult community members on their wellness needs and priorities, schedule community events that include weekly and monthly activities, special events, participate in workshops, community meetings, and other venues to promote support for the Wellness/Social Program, and undertake promotional campaigns for community wellness through radio advertising, community newsletters, Facebook, and public postings. The coordinator will monitor effectiveness of social / wellness programs within the community, prepare monthly activity reports, update progress in current programs, develop and submit grant proposals.
EDUCATION & SKILLS REQUIRED:
One year certificate or two-year diploma from a college or technical school.
Three to six months of related work experience, or some other equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of social / wellness programs provided by territorial, Federal, TCSA and Tłı̨chǫ Government.
Ability to speak Tłı̨chǫ is an asset.
Effective written communication and public speaking skills.
A valid driver’s license and satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required.
Computer skills and the ability to operate word-processing, email and internet applications.

OUTLINE OF THE POSITION:
The Early Childhood Assistant is responsible to assist in planning and implementing programs to care for children aged 0-12 and to assist in providing information and resources to parents through drop-in play and learning opportunities to encourage healthy child development and positive parenting. The Early Childhood Assistant must ensure development and safety of these children in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
EDUCATION & SKILLS REQUIRED:
The Early Childhood Assistant is expected to have the following education, work experience and skills (equivalencies will be considered).
Grade 10, experience working with children and equivalencies will be considered.
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
Satisfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Checks (must be updated every 3 years and provide an annual statement on any outstanding criminal charges as needed)
Up to date certification in First Aid/CPR is required and/or training will be provided.
All Immunizations/TB Record must be up to date (with an annual medical check-up)
Ability to speak Tłı̨ chǫ; knowledge of Tłı̨ chǫ history and culture; experience working with special needs children, and Class 5 driver’s license are assets.
Willingness to enroll and complete courses in an Early Childhood Certificate and Diploma, and to participate in annual professional development.
Positive respectful attitude, flexibility, dependability, self-motivation, sound work ethic and required to follow the code of ethics of a professional childcare provider.
Knowledge of current early childhood program practices and strategies; of social, community and other challenges experienced by children and families and of how to access community services and resources.
Ability to work in a multi-cultural setting with children, parents, staff and community agency representatives; manage several tasks at one time; and work independently.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, stress management, and communication skills.
