Full Time, Gah Cho Kue Mine site Fly in/ Fly out, two-week rotation

Ni Hadi Xa is seeking an environmental monitor for the Gah Cho Kue Diamond Mine located northeast of Yellowknife. Ni Hadi Xa is a stewardship agreement that provides for input and review of the environmental monitoring and management as well as reporting associated with the Gah Cho Kue Diamond mine. The environmental monitor position will be based at the mine site. The environmental monitor will accompany De Beers staff on routine activities at the mine, will review the data and reports regarding De Beers environmental performance, will provide their own reports on the activities at the mine and will communicate their observations to the Ni Hadi Xa Governance Committee, Environment Manager, De Beers, and partner communities on a regular basis.

The following will be considered the minimum qualifications for the position:

  • A bachelor's degree (or equivalent combination of education, training and experience).
  • Two years of work experience in the North (NWT/YU/NU).
  • Two Years of Environmental monitoring work experience.
  • Valid NWT Class Five Drivers License.
  • De Beers Canada Mine Site Medical clearance.
  • De Beers Canada Mine Site Security Clearance.

Two-year term position, to begin immediately after medical and security clearance is confirmed.

De Beers will provide accommodations, food, and office space at the Gah Cho Kue Mine site as well as transportation to and from Yellowknife. $70,000.00/ annum plus extended health benefits in amount allocated in the yearly budget and an annual performance review.   • Training and practice on CIVTP UFile tax software
  • Registering you with CRA's Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP)
  • Getting access to electronic filing and other CVITP resources
  • Helping you get your CRA MyAccount Access - if you don't already have it
  • Assigning you a dedicated laptop for tax preparation
  • On-going training, assistance, and troubleshooting will be provided for volunteers through Zoom throughout the tax season

Volunteers should:

  • Be trusted by their community
  • Be eager to contribute to their community
  • Have basic computer skills
  • Be able to pass a criminal record check
  • Have a cellphone to receive security codes from CRA
