Behchokǫ̀ Ko Gha K'aodee maintains and manages the local Administrative office, Shop Maintenance building and tenant units. We are currently recruiting to fill the following casual part-time position located in Behchoke, NT.

Job information:

This position is responsible for providing custodial and grounds keeping services at the Behchokǫ̀ Ko Gha K'aodee (BHGK) and ensuring that the facility is clean for staff, and visitors. Reporting directly to the Manager, Behchokǫ̀ Ko Gha K'aodee. You will provide daily general custodial, grounds keeping and maintenance services at the community of Behchokǫ̀ Ko Gha K'aodee.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Cleans floors by sweeping, mopping and polishing;
  • Vacuums rugs and carpets; spot cleans as required;
  • Washes tables weekly, spot clean as needed;
  • Cleans and disinfects washrooms and kitchen area; re-stocks and replenishes bathroom supplies as needed;
  • Cleans and dusts entryway, offices, boardroom and hallway;
  • Cleans doors, partitions and other surfaces, including windows;
  • Empties trash and recycling receptacles;
  • Completes other cleaning tasks as required such as wiping of door knobs and light switches during cold and flu season;
  • Maintains clean and tidy entryways. 


Typically, the qualifications needed are: 

  • Previous experience in doing routine custodial/maintenance work 
  • WHIMIS and other safe work procedures training
  • Applicants MUST have a satisfactory criminal records check.

Term: Full Time, Fly in/ Fly out, two-week rotation
Location: Gah Cho Kue Mine site

Ni Hadi Xa is seeking an environmental monitor for the Gah Cho Kue Diamond Mine located northeast of Yellowknife. Ni Hadi Xa is a stewardship agreement that provides for input and review of the environmental monitoring and management as well as reporting associated with the Gah Cho Kue Diamond mine. The environmental monitor position will be based at the mine site. The environmental monitor will accompany De Beers staff on routine activities at the mine, will review the data and reports regarding De Beers environmental performance, will provide their own reports on the activities at the mine and will communicate their observations to the Ni Hadi Xa Governance Committee, Environment Manager, De Beers, and partner communities regularly.

The following will be considered the minimum qualifications for the position:

  • A bachelor's degree (or equivalent combination of education, training and experience).
  • Two years of work experience in the North (NWT/YU/NU).
  • Two Years of Environmental monitoring work experience.
  • Valid NWT Class Five Drivers License.
  • De Beers Canada Mine Site Medical clearance.
  • De Beers Canada Mine Site Security Clearance.

Two-year term position, to begin immediately after medical and security clearance is confirmed.

De Beers will provide accommodations, food, office space at the Gah Cho Kue Mine site, and transportation to and from Yellowknife. $70,000.00/ annum plus extended health benefits in the amount allocated in the yearly budget and an annual performance review.
