Tłı̨chǫ Youth Attend Indspire’s Soaring: Indigenous Youth Empowerment Gathering

In early April 2025, ten Tłı̨chǫ youth from Chief Jimmy Bruneau School traveled to Vancouver to participate in Indspire’s Soaring: Indigenous Youth Empowerment Gathering 2025, held at Canada Place on April 8–9. This national event brought together Indigenous high school students from across Canada to explore post-secondary education and career opportunities through engaging workshops, speaker panels, and networking with top employers. https://indspire.ca/events/soaring/

This opportunity was made possible by the Department of Healing and Community Wellness, which supported and accompanied the youth throughout their journey. Participants learned about financial aid options, connected with Indigenous role models, and gained valuable insights into various career pathways.

Beyond the event, the chance to travel and experience Vancouver provided students with a broader perspective, fostering personal growth and inspiring new experiences. Exposure to different environments and communities can be a powerful motivator, encouraging youth to envision possibilities beyond their immediate surroundings.

Keep an eye out for more youth programs and initiatives offered throughout the year by the Department of Healing and Community Wellness, which continues to empower young people and support them on their path toward bright and successful futures.
