The new Royal Canadian Mounted Police detachment in Whatı̀ is now officially open!

During a ceremony held on June 23, 2025 Charlie Nitsiza, Chief of Whatı̀, Charlene Doolittle, Deputy Minister of the Northwest Territories Department of Justice and Chief Superintendent Dyson Smith, Commanding Officer of G Division RCMP, were joined by dignitaries and community members to celebrate this milestone.

The new detachment was designed to better meet the current and future needs of the RCMP as the community grows.
