Wear Red on May 5 is recognized as the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, as well as 2SLGBTQI+ individuals (MMIWG2S). This day is often referred to as "Red Dress Day," a term coined by Métis artist Jaime Black to highlight this critical national issue.
The Justice & Victim Services Division of the Client Services Department has partnered with various organizations to host MMIWG2S+ events. Justice and Victim Services is committed to raising awareness, fostering healing, and remembering our loved ones.

These events represent our ongoing commitment to raise awareness, foster healing, and remember those we’ve lost. By participating in the act of beading red dresses and coming together, we continue to honor their stories, strength, and the call for justice.
Participants are encouraged to wear red, engage in mindful creativity, and explore educational materials and support resources. Whether you come to bead, learn, or simply show your presence, you are helping to weave awareness into the fabric of our community.
Let us gather, listen, and work in solidarity. Awareness is not just a one-day event; it’s a shared and ongoing commitment.
