OUTLINE OF THE POSITION:
The Tłı̨chǫ Įmbè Program (TĮP) is designed to support high school and post-secondary students, who have been away from their home communities during the school year, with an opportunity to reconnect with their language and culture during the summer. The Assistant Program Manager will participate in all aspects of program planning, development, promotion, implementation and evaluation of the program. The incumbent will oversee and support 5 Team Leaders and help with technical skills, interpersonal training and skill development and logistical and strategic planning.
The Assistant Program Manager will need to travel to each community, support and evaluate each community’s program, work closely with Community Directors, ensure Elders and teaching materials are available, make recommendations and formulate a plan for the following year.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Minimum High School diploma, preferred currently enrolled in, planning to attend, be returning to or beginning full time studies in the fall at a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Experience with program development and running programs.
- Experience with scheduling, budgeting and logistical planning.
- Ability to lead small groups, work with Tłı̨chǫ community members particularly Elders
- Very good motivation, team building, organizational, administrative and communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills, feel comfortable asking questions and for help.
- Demonstrate good judgment in terms of safety issues and good problem-solving skills.
- Being bilingual in English and Tłı̨chǫ Yati is an asset.
- Previous experience in the Įmbè Program is an asset.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license is an asset.
