TREDWG meets with ATAC, and Denendeh

Keith Henry president & CEO of the Aboriginal Tourism Association of Canada, and Darrel Beaulieu of Denendeh Corporation present to the Tłı̨chǫ Region Economic Development Working Group (TREDWG), on Friday, March 3rd, 2017, in Yellowknife, NT . 

Mr. Henry shared the national strategy entitled “The Path Forward 2016-2021”, contributions to the development of national standards on market readiness and authenticity, cruise industry opportunities and the national Aboriginal tourism research project on the economic value of Aboriginal cultural tourism.  

 The Path Forward 2016-2021 focus on increasing Aboriginal market readiness, increasing jobs, and increasing revenues.   

Mr. Beaulieu, president and CEO of Denendeh Group of Companies, presented on the Northern Corridor and Outlook for Denendeh Report. The report focuses on improving our understanding of the changing economic landscape across Denendeh, when and how these changes will take place, and what can be done to change the downward trajectory of our economy. 

Mr. Henry, and Mr. Beaulieu were invited to speak to TREDWG after his presentation at the Arctic Indigenous Investment Conference (AIIC) in Whitehorse in February 13-15, 2017.  

The AIIC highlights and promotes First Nation Aboriginal Development Corporations and Aboriginal businesses in all sectors of our northern economy. 

The goal of AIIC 2017 is to support economic growth and prosperity by forging new relationships, advancing partnerships, and creating new contacts across the arctic, and all of the Arctic Indigenous Development Corporations and businesses, play a key role, across the North.

TREDWG was also had the opportunity to present their work on regional economic in the Tłı̨chǫ region. 

AIIC 2018 will be hosted in Yellowknife (September 2018) and Vickie Francisco, Chair of the TREDWG will Co-Chair on the AIIC 2018 conference planning committee.
