Celebrating Richard Van Camp's 20 books in 20 years

NorthWords NWT, with support from the NWT Literacy Council, the Yellowknife Book Cellar, the Yellowknife Public Library, CBCNorth and the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre, celebrated Richard Van Camp's 20 books in 20 years at the Museum Café on Saturday November 5, 2016. The Minister of Education, Culture and Employment, Alfred Moses, spoke warmly of Richard’s accomplishments. The Chair of Tłı̨chǫ Community Services Agency, Mr. Ted Blondin, thanked Richard for his commitment to both written and oral stories that are so important for educating northern youth.  Mr. Blondin also emphasized Richard’s support of northern writers and his skill in editing books including his own father George Blondin’s books without losing the meaning and truth.  Both Johnny Weyallen and  Mary Adele Mantla won a copy of one of  Richard's books. 

Richard Van Camp will be speaking to the students at Chief Jimmy Bruneau School on Wednesday November 9, 2016.
