Aboriginal Engineering

Aboriginal Engineering Ltd. (AEL) began operations in 1995 and is currently under the ownership of Tåîchô Investment Corporation. AEL offers extensive technical, professional and logistical experience in executing Northern industrial projects and typically maintains 85% Aboriginal employment during project work.

AEL has completed large construction survey projects, including the construction of Diavik diamond mine and the construction of the DeBeers Snap Lake diamond mine. We have completed large scale quality control, including the construction of A154 dyke at Diavik. We have also completed environmental remediation and reclamation projects at Port Radium, Tundra Mine, Discovery Mine, and Colomac Mine. AEL believes that by equipping local community members with the appropriate skills, sustainbility through community capacity can be built; thus, tapping into the most valuable Northern resource of all: its people. The mandate of AEL's operations since its inception in 1995 has been to build capacity among local Aboriginals.

Training has been a part of each large scale AEL project. In addition, AEL has a partnership with Taiga Environmental Laboratory to train interested Northern participants as laboratory technicians.
