Programs - Jean Wetrade Gamètì School

We offer programming at the K-9 level with an emphasis on developing programs that are reflective of Tåîchô culture and language. We offer a mix of daily cultural activities as well as larger on the land experiences such as hunting, fishing, and trapping. We have developed a focus on literacy development and hold frequent events that target literacy improvement, both within the school and the community.

JWGS holds a weekly assembly to honour exceptional behaviour among our students. JWGS offers a simple breakfast program each morning. Currently, our grade 10 students are required to leave the community to attend high school in Behchokö. This will all change in the fall of 2008 when JWGS will open its doors to an expanded school featuring a gymnasium, a culture room, and two high school spaces. It will be an exciting time for the students and the community.
