EMES follows the Northwest Territories curriculum from Kindergarden to Grade 6. Students participate in language arts, math, science, social studies, health, music, gym, art and Dogrib (Tåîchô).
EMES is committed to Chief Jimmy Bruneau's vision of educating Tåîchô children to be "strong like two people". At EMES we actively promote the Tåîchô language and culture Tåîchô cultural learning is a part of all student's daily lives at EMES. Each grade receives 120 minutes of Tåîchô language instruction per week. As well, students and teachers participate in on the land cultural activities throughout the year, such as:

To support the cultural program, EMES has a well stocked cultural shed, consisting of winter sleeping bags, a radio and satellite communication system, four bush tents, four snowmobiles and toboggans and a boat and motor, in addition to a host of additional equipment required to operate a camp.
Staff members also take part in a number of committees that promote the growth of a positive and thriving school culture. Committees that staff members serve on include the primary divisional committee, the intermediate divisional committee, the EBS committee, the sports committee, the snack committee and the quarterly newsletter committee. Participation on school committees is a positive and proactive way to empower staff to take ownership over shaping the growth of the school culture; and thus, helping to make the association with EMES a positive experience for the staff, students and parents.
EMES also has an active Effection Behaviour Support (EBS)program. The EBS program has been effective in reducing student behavior referrals and developing a positive and thriving school culture.

We have a number of extra curricular events for the students of EMES, such as soccer, cross country running, track & field, an after school rosary club, a student council, an EMES children's choir, and a drama club. Our students are involved in a number of other
Throughout each week, EMES offers a snack program to the student every morning, and on each Friday morning the students bring to school a snack to share with the students and staff.
Interagency services offered at EMES consist of a wellness councilor, a dental office and a pre-school program. Nurses, a speech and language therapist and an occupational therapist also provide services to EMES students.
The local RCMP detachment is involve at EMES instructioning D.A.R.E.(Drug Abuse Resistance Education) which is a comprehensive prevention education program designed to equip school children with skills to recognize and resist social pressures to experiment with tobacco, alcohol, other drugs and violence.
