Our Board Members

Our Agency has five Board members which includes a representative from each of the Tåîchô communities and a chairperson. Board members are chosen by the Community Governments in the communities and the chairperson is appointed by the Minister responsible for Aboriginal Affairs of the GNWT after consultation with the Tåîchô Government and the Tåîchô Community Services Agency.

Our Chairperson:

The chairperson of the Tåîchô Community Services Agency is Alfonz Nitsiza of Whatì. Alfonz Nitsiza was born between Rae (Behchokö) and Lac La Martre (now Whatì ) NWT. He is married with 3 children. Today he divides his time between representing the Agency, working for the Tåîchô Government and sitting on the Wekeezhii Land and Water Board.

Our Representative from Behchokö:

Joe Mackenzie was born in Rae (now Behchokö) NWT and is married with three children. At an early age, he would travel with his parents to the bush for trapping, fishing and hunting. He works as a Wildlife Officer with the GNWT’s Environment and Natural Resources Department. He also serves as an elected member of the Tåîchô Community Government in Behchokö.

Our Representative from Gamètì:

David Wedawin was elected to the District Education Authority in Gamètì and was voted chairperson by the members. David was then appointed by the Tåîchô Community Government to sit on the Agency as the representative of Gamètì.

Our Representative from Wekweetì:

Noella Kodzin was born in Lac La Martre (now Whatì ) NWT and at the age of 3, she was adopted by Samuel and Marie Simpson originally of Rae who moved permanently to Wekweetì (Snare Lake) in 1961 to access good harvesting land for trapping, hunting and fishing. Noella has stayed in Wekweetì ever since and is now married with 10 children.

Our Representative from Whatì:

Ted Nitsiza was born in Lac La Martre (now Whatì ) NWT . He currently works for the Tåîchô Government as a Lands and Resources Coordinator. Elected to the District Education Authority or DEA in Whatì, he was appointed by the Tåîchô Community Government to represent the community on the Agency.
