On Friday, May 1, at 10 am and at 4 pm, the History Channel aired a special documentary called Save Our History: Tlicho Nation. The producers are also creating a short form version of the documentary, which the Tlicho Government is eagerly awaiting.
Here's a part of the letter sent to us by the producers:
The project with students at the high school has been a great experience. The students have produced 4 short videos about Tlicho history and culture. We are creating a website where the videos will be posted along with some photos and background information. The students were such a pleasure to work with, and I could see very clearly how much your emphasis on cultural tradition and history has been taken to heart by the teachers and students in the community. I plan to return to the school sometime in the next month or two to wrap up the project and do a screening of the videos, I will send you an update on those plans.
We have also written a teacher's guide for the Save Our History: Tlicho Nation documentary which will be posted on the website and printed in our magazine for teachers, The Idea Book for Educators. This publication will be mailed in August or September to over 200,000 teachers.
I will let you know when the website mentioned above will be completed. We have really enjoyed the opportunity to get to know students and teachers in the Tlicho community, and we look forward to staying in touch.
When the website is completed, we will publish the link on the Tlicho website at www.tlicho.ca.
