Khon Go Cho Complex Update

Khon Go Cho Complex is one of the 13th top northern project as per Up Here magazine. This project has total estimated budget of $16,000,000.00(excluding contingency). Out of $ 16 Million estimated budget $9 million Mortgage has been approved by the CIBC Bank, through a Long Term Borrowing By-Law by the Community Government of Behchoko. The remaining $7 million projects funds required have been secured over the last eight months by the Community Government of Behchoko plus the contingency funds from (Dominion Diamonds, CANNOR, Tlicho Government, Community Government- CPI funds & Build Canada Funds & other). Estimated size of building when completed will be 50,000 square feet.

Work Completed to date over the last ten months:

Entire site clean- up of inside & outside of Arena  with removal of all old parts & sections per building code and the new building plans, all architectural & engineering design plans completed, Total project budget of funds submitted and secured. Contracts and sub- contracts were negotiated and awarded. Tlicho Construction is the main contractor and Nadji Architect is the main consultant of this project.

Site grounds were prepared for built concrete forms, and concrete was poured.  Mechanical work has started, and in-ground piping is in progress for pellet boiler heat plus much more.

On the Job and class room  training provided on site in the community over the last ten months through the Building Trades Helper Program with Aurora College. 

This project has substantial completion date November 14, 2015 and final completion date is December 20, 2015.

It will be a building in which the community will take great pride in suggesting to visitors” you must visit our Khon Go Cho Complex “. It will be a key attraction in Behchoko and mission to support recreation, sports,  community activities, tourism and hospitality industry.  There will be room for meeting conferences and special events through the development and operation of the Khon Go Cho Complex.
