The Great Northern Arts Festival will assist selected artists with travel to and from Inuvik and provide modest, shared accommodation and cafeteria style meals for the duration of the event. The Festival is Drug and Alcohol Free, and chosen artists will be expected to agree to follow a stict code of professional conduct during the event.
Each artist, in addition to exhibiting, selling and creating artwork during the Festival, is expected to participate in at least one formal outreach/workshop activity for the Festival while in Inuvik. We will help you plan your workshop and price it accordingly. These activities are a key component for the community aspect the Festival, and include putting on workshops for other artists and the public, participating as a panel member in a professional development seminar/presentation, and/or demonstrating technique for the public in our studio areas. These activities not only help round out the Festival as the world’s premiere arts symposium north of 60, but allow assist artists with professional and personal development in a creative setting.
The Festival encourages artists, in addition to leading their own workshop/seminar, to participate in our full schedule of professional development seminars and further their skills as art educators and facilitators. We are here to learn, share and communicate.
